Bangkok: Suspected radical militants gunned down 15 people in a Muslim-dominated area in Thailand's South Yala Province late on Tuesday night. According to officials, the security checkpoint was targeted by the attackers. Four security personnel were also injured in this attack. When the police proceeded to apprehend these attackers, these terrorists scattered explosives and spikes on the road to escape.

Thailand's Southern Army spokesman Pramot Prom-in has stated that this is the largest firing incident in the country in the last few years. They have reported that the extremists brought with them M-16 rifles and shotguns. In this attack, 12 people died on the spot, while three died in the hospital during treatment. Pramot said that there could be a conspiracy of the rebels behind this attack. There has been no claim from any terrorist organization regarding this attack. However, it is being reported that Muslim extremists may be behind this.
