Aligarh: In the Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Mayor Shakuntala Bharti has made a serious charge of getting a Muslim girl converted. The girl has alleged that Shakuntala Bharti has converted her sister and got her married to a Hindu boy.

While responding to these allegations, Shakuntala Bharti has said that the allegations are baseless and if anyone can prove that the allegations are true then she will leave the state. Bharti demanded from the administration that the strictest legal action should be taken against those making such allegations. After the marriage of a Muslim girl Faizi who went missing in the Sasni Gate area of Aligarh police station, Faizi, the girl's sister, Ashiya Saifi, during a press conference, accused former Mayor Shakuntala Bharti of converting the Muslim girl and marrying her to Hindu boys. 

Ashiya has also accused the police of not helping in the case. Former Mayor Shakuntala Bharti has dismissed all the above allegations and termed them as baseless and blatant rumours.
