New Delhi: After the Ayodhya Ram Temple and Babri Masjid dispute has been resolved, the process of petitions has also started in the Supreme Court regarding the Kashi-Mathura dispute. After the petition of the Hindu side, now the Muslim side has also reached the top court. Muslim institution Jamiat-ulema-e-Hind has opposed the petition of Hindu priests by filing an application in the Supreme Court.

The application filed on behalf of Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind said that the notice should be issued on the petition of Hindu priests. Issuing notice in the matter will create fear in the minds of people of Muslim community about their places of worship. Referencing the Ayodhya dispute in the petition, it has been said that after its end such a petition will create fear in the minds of Muslims. Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind has said that it should be made a party to the case as this matter will destroy the secular fabric of the nation.

At the same time, the Vishwa Bhadra Pujari Purohit Mahasangh, an organization of Hindu priests in the apex court, has filed a petition challenging the Place of Worship Special Provisions Act 1991. The petition has demanded a resumption of legal proceedings regarding the Kashi-Mathura dispute. It has been said in the petition that this act has never been challenged and no court has considered this act judicially.
