Indore: On Monday (April 10, 2023) evening, the Sheetla Mata temple in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, was vandalised, and people there were assaulted. It is alleged that some Muslim boys threatened to kill the women who had come to worship in the temple if it was not removed. After the incident, women and members of a Hinduist organisation reached the police station and demanded action against the criminals.
As per media reports, the incident is from the Bank area of Chandan Nagar. Here is a 50-year-old temple of Sheetla Mata, whose repair and renovation work is going on. On Monday evening, labourers Man Singh (40) and Chhagan Lal (50) were doing repair work in the temple. There, some women were worshipping in the temple. It is being told that at the same time Rashid, Imran, and Firoz arrived, residents of Rajkumar Nagar came to the temple and stopped the workers. Thereafter, they assaulted the labourers and misbehaved with the women worshipping them. The criminals warned to remove the temple from there. According to the women, the Muslim boys threatened to kill everyone if the temple was not removed.
As soon as the news of uproar and vandalism in the temple was received, the members of the Hinduist organisation gathered. After reaching the police station, people demanded action. The police have deployed large numbers of officers in the area. The construction work on the temple is going on under the guard of the police. The police are trying to identify and arrest those who vandalised and threatened. Activists of the Hindu organisation said that this is not the first time that an attempt has been made to create a ruckus in the temple. Before this, meat was thrown several times in the temple premises. Those who come to worship are thrashed. Now vandalism has also started happening in the temple. Hindu organisations told people that if action is not taken against the criminals, a big movement will be done. Police have registered a case against the criminals for damaging the place of worship and beating up the workers.
