Muzaffarnagar (UP): Two women were allegedly raped by a man, whose wife recorded the incident to blackmail the victims into trafficking, police said Thursday. The shameful act was allegedly done so that the victims could be further blackmailed by the accused duo. According to a complaint, the women, aged 22-23, were held hostage in New Mandi area, where the accused, Sanjiv Lohan, raped them.
The police told PTI that the victims, said to be in their early twenties, were abducted by the accused, identified as Sanjiv Lohan. In an even more disgusting turn of events, the accused’s wife herself made a video of the act and then blackmailed the victims. The victims were then allegedly raped by a number of men after the incident as they kept suffering due to the constant threat of blackmail by the accused who said that they would circulate the videos if the women raised an alarm or informed anyone.
The women alleged they were raped by other people after they were blackmailed with the video, the officer said. Such incidents bring out the fact that crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh continue to happen despite the law and order machinery claiming that the situation is better now.
