Koderma: The incident of child marriage has come to light from Koderma in Jharkhand. Here a 13-year-old girl informed the police that her minor friend was being forcibly married. Thereafter, police reached the spot and stopped the marriage and the minor was admitted to Kasturba Gandhi Residential School.

According to Childline officials, the case pertains to Barsotiavar village under the Koderma police station area. On Friday, a 13-year-old girl called the child helpline 1098 and told that her friend is being forcibly married, but she does not want to get married yet and wants to continue her studies. Thereafter, the girl student also gave the complete address, following which the police swung into action. 

Childline officers said, the police rescued the minor girl and handed her over to the Child Welfare Committee, after that, with the help of the local administration, she was enrolled in Kasturba Balika Vidyalaya. After the news came to the fore, the Jharkhand High Court took suo motu cognizance of the matter and ordered the local administration to take strict action. Childline officials said that the girl's parents had arranged her marriage to a 22-year-old man from Giridih. After being rescued, the girl said that she was studying in class VII in a government school and wanted to continue her studies further.
