If there’s one thing that Shruti Haasan has managed to continue doing even amidst the pandemic, it’s writing poems. The actress-musician admits that while she hasn’t been able to come up with new songs, penning down her thoughts in the form of poems has helped her get through difficult times.

“It’s a creatively challenging time and I haven’t been able to write music at all. I don’t know what to write; it feels petty to write. But I do write poems. I’m not creating anything from scratch,” she says. “It’s different when I write music and different when I write poetry. My poetry is much more fluid and is quickly triggered — by what I see, what I feel and by something which has moved some part of me. It’s almost like an itch that I have to scratch. It’s like I am watching something and a train of thought comes to my mind and I just have to pause and write it down. I always go back to it later to give it some structure and form. It’s a habit I have had since I was a teenager. It’s a verbal vomit, but in the form of poetry,” she smiles.
