Yama Dwar is located at a height of about 15,500 feet, 15 kilometers from Darchen, a village in Tibet. It is the starting place for the Parikrama tour of Mount Kailash. The people of Tibet call this place by the name 'Chorten Kang Nagyi', which means 'two-legged stupa'. The belief is that no person who stays in the night inside the Yama Gate remains alive. According to beliefs, if you have done the circumambulation of Yama Dwar, it will be considered like completing the Kailash Yatra. Apart from this, it is also said that revolving the Yama Gate leads to heaven. It is also believed that if you pass through the Yama Gate then Chitragupta removes all your evil deeds from the book of judgment.
