Development in Nagaland is on a rising way. Nagaland government has begun a livelihood generation scheme for those who came to the state due to the Covid-19 pandemic with an emphasis on re-skilling them and providing grants for entrepreneurial undertakings. “This is part of the government’s plan to restore the state economy. The industries and commerce department’s goal is rehabilitating these workers, reinstating them and providing seed money to those who have great ideas, as per our funds,” Kekhrievor Kevichusa, Commissioner & Secretary, Department of Industries and Commerce, Nagaland told a leading daily.

Started earlier this week, the leadership is funded by the North Eastern Council (NEC), which is the Central government’s nodal agency for the economic and social development of the Northeastern region. Kevichusa said, "The NEC has provided the state government with an initial fund of Rs 2.4 crore. Those who returned to the state between May 22 and August 6 will be available for registration. Some 16,000-odd returnee workers had enrolled so far."
Kevichusa further added, “We will be helping candidates develop skills in 20-odd sectors which are important in Nagaland. Then, we will provide seed money to say 100-odd individuals or more, as per our funds. The upper limit of our grants will be Rs 2 lakh. The main objective is to target unemployment and displacement caused by the pandemic, thereby creating opportunities for those interested returnees to set up an enterprise for livelihood generation." The sectors include micro-services like courier services, film production and its related work, computer repair, food processing; and manufacturing.
