NSCN (IM) has called for a 12-hour closure of shops and business establishments in Nagaland from Monday midnight to Tuesday noon in protest against centre’s failure to convert the Framework Agreement signed six years ago on August 3 to a final settlement. “As a mark of our protest against the GoI for keeping silent on FA even after 6 years, there will be a total closure of shops and business establishments in nagalim from 12:00 am midnight of the 2nd August, 2021 till 12:00 noon of the 3rd August, 2021,” NSCN (IM) said in a statement.

“The Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) is yet to see the light of fulfillment as committed by the GoI. Six years down the line, there is no positive response yet from the GoI. The Nagas cannot be taken for a ride in this manner. While Naga people appreciate the Government of India for recognizing the historical and political rights of the Nagas by signing the FA, the matter should not end there. What had been committed should be taken to a logical conclusion,” NSCN (IM) stated.

The Framework Agreement was signed between centre and NSCN (IM) in presence of PM Narendra Modi to form the basis of the final settlement but the process remains incomplete.
