New Delhi: The tears of a corona-infected person are also at risk of spreading the infection. The Government Medical College in Amritsar has claimed in research that tears with and without 'ocular manifestations' can be a possible source of covid-19 infection. However, the main medium of corona outbreaks smaller droplets that come while breathing.  Researchers say the risk of its spread through other means cannot be ignored.

According to research, the presence of covid-19 in the tears of infected patients has been evaluated and compared.  ocular manifestation means a disease or effect on the eye caused by a disease in the body. The Government Medical College conducted research on a total of 120 corona patients, out of which 60 were an ocular manifestation and 60 were not. 41 patients had problems conjunctival hyperemia, 38 follicular reactions, 35 chemoses, 20 mucoid discharges, and 11 itchings.

Of these, 37 percent of the study participants had mild corona infection with ocular manifestation, while about 63 percent had severe infections. In the second group, about 52 percent of patients had mild illness and more than 48 percent had a serious illness. Tears samples were taken within 48 hours of the patient's RTPCR report for the research. RTPCR Test is considered to be the best Test for corona. In total, 21 out of 120 patients were found to have corona infected in the tear RTPCR. Of these, 11 patients had ocular manifestations while 10 had no such problem.
