New Delhi: While Nagaland voting started this morning under heavy security, 17.17% of eligible voters were registered in Nagaland as of 9 am, as per the Election Commission of India.

183 candidates from various parties' electoral futures would be decided by the polls.

According to information provided by the Indian Election Commission, Chumoukedima had a 17.59 percent voter turnout, Dimapur had a 14.45 percent turnout, Kiphire had a 24.74 percent turnout, Kohima had a 20.12 percent turnout, Longleng had an 11.93 percent turnout, Noklak at 18.98 percent., Peren at 15.91 percent., Phek at 20.37 percent., Pughoboto at 25.06 percent., Shamator at 16.00 percent., Tseminyu at 19.72 percent., Tuensang 15.30 percent., Wokha at 11.61 percent., Zunheboto at 9.91 percent..

At 7 am today, voting began in 59 Assembly constituencies behind strict security. The polls will remain open until 4:00 PM.

BJP candidate Kazheto Kinimi was declared the winner unopposed from Zunheboto district's Akuluto constituency after his rival from the Congress, N Khekashe Sumi, withdrew from the race on the final day for withdrawal of nominations, which was February 10. Voting is currently taking place in 59 out of 60 Assembly constituencies.

The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), the BJP's previous alliance partner in the 2018 Assembly elections as well, and the party are running together in the elections on Monday.

Yet, the BJP is playing the role of a junior partner after agreeing to a 20:40 seat-sharing ratio in the state. In 23 and 22, respectively, seats, the Congress and Naga People's Front are running for office. The CPI is running for seats in 1, NCP in 12, NPP in 12, RPP in 1, JD(U) in 7, LJP in 15, RPI (Athawale), and Independents in 19.

In 2018, the party teamed up with the NDPP, and with the support of the Janata Dal (United) and an Independent, they were able to create an alliance government. The JD(U) secured 1 seat, while the NDPP won on 17 seats and the BJP secured 12 seats.

In Nagaland, there are 13,17,632 registered voters, 6,61,489 of them are men and 6,56,143 of whom are women.

Throughout the state, 2,351 voting places have been set up. To ensure a smooth and fair voting process, the Election Commission reports that 305 companies from various security forces have been stationed at polling places around the state.
