Nagarjuna left for Portugal without casting his vote

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had tagged the actors Nagarjuna and Mohan Lal in a tweet a few days ago in which he requested them to create awareness about voting. Even commoners from Hyderabad rushed to cast their vote in their respective native places. There was a huge rush from other places and even from abroad when Telugu people were eager to cast their vote. Not only commoners, even celebrities from different walks of life were seen casting their vote.

However, it looks like the actor did not franchise his vote in the recently concluded parliamentary elections in Telangana. Nagarjuna missed casting his vote and went on for Portugal schedule for his ‘Manmadhudu 2’. He was one of those celebrities who preached that it was our duty to use our right to vote. Although his wife Amala, son Naga Chaitanya, and daughter-in-law Samantha, all cast their votes, Nag did not turn up at all.

Nag indeed did his part in creating awareness through his tweets asking voters to use their power.  In his reply to Mr Modi, Nagarjuna said, “Thank you for your kind words, sir. We believe in democracy and we will surely vote.” It’s surprising to see him skipping when he must be the one to make sure he cast his vote. It’s ironic because just one day before the elections, he wrote in a tweet, “Every 5 years, we get to choose our leaders and celebrate democracy! It’s time to vote!.”
