Bangalore: Uma Devi, the headmistress who had given permission to students to offer Namaz in a government school in Kolar, Karnataka, has been suspended. This case is of Mulbagal Someswara Palaya Bale Changappa Government Kannada Model Higher Primary School. Why Namaz in Government School? Kolar DM Umesh Kumar had sought a report from the administration regarding this matter. The Block Education Officer, Girijeshwari Devi, who was investigating the matter, suspended the headmistress Uma Devi in the Namaz episode.

Let us inform that inside the school, the students had offered Namaz on Friday (21 January 2022). According to the report, the Block Education Officer Girijeshwari Devi told that a four-member team was sent to the school for investigation. During investigation, it was found that the headmistress had made a mistake by allowing students to offer namaz in the school on Friday. Arguing behind this decision, the Block Education Officer said that Muslim students are allowed to offer Namaz during the break, but Namaz is not allowed in the school premises. There is no provision for offering any kind of religious prayer in government schools, so the headmistress has been suspended.

The inquiry report states that, 'The headmistress has given arguments in defense of her decision to conduct namaz in the school.' The headmistress Uma Devi had earlier told that she was not aware that Namaz was being held in the school. However, he later clarified that he had allowed Namaz in one room of the school so that more and more Muslim students could be included in the school.
