Lucknow: The Anti-Terrorism Branch (ATS) wing of the Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested a suspected terrorist of the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS) from Gorakhpur district. The name of the arrested terrorist is Mohammad Tariq Athar, who has become a radical by himself. The Gujarat ATS had informed the UP Police for the arrest of the terrorist. In interrogation, Tariq has told himself to be influenced by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi (ISIS terrorist leader). He also tried to push some other youths on the path of terror by filling them with religious poison. Tariq was arrested on Thursday (July 6).

As per reports, Tariq lives near Anjuman School in Khoonipur locality of Gorakhpur district. Giving information to the media, Special DG of UP Police, Prashant Kumar has told that ATS was getting inputs from Gujarat Police regarding the suspicious activities of Tariq. Based on these inputs, Tariq was called to the ATS headquarters and interrogated. During interrogation, it was revealed that he was heavily influenced by the ideology of the dreaded terrorist organization ISIS. Tariq often used to watch videos of Baghdadi and was very fond of the guns of his terrorists.

According to the report, Tariq also told the ATS that he wanted to become a Mujahid and do Jihad in India. His aim was to implement Sharia law in India. Tariq himself took an oath of allegiance to the ISIS organization by gathering information online. He was instigating the youth to join ISIS through social media. His motive behind these antics was to prepare companions for Jihad in India. Tariq used the Telegram app to post jihadi videos and content. An FIR has been registered against him under Section 121-A/123 of IPC on 13/18/38 under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act 1967. 

ATS said that the arrested terrorist had become radicalized after reading articles written by ISIS propagandists Abu Saeed Al Britani and Al Adnani. It has also come to the fore during interrogation that he was trying to take Indian Muslim youth abroad for Jihad. Tariq has accepted all the crimes in front of ATS. According to ADG ATS Naveen Arora, efforts will be made to get the remand of Muhammad Tariq Athar from the court. ATS wants to scan his entire network. Mobile, a SIM card, Aadhaar card, one thousand cash have been recovered from Tariq. Objectionable things have also been found in his mobile phone.
