NEW DELHI: In the eastern Ladakh sector, the Indian Army showcased its military might as tanks and combat vehicles successfully conducted drills by crossing the Indus River to engage enemy positions, according to recent reports. The Army has recently integrated the indigenous Dhanush howitzer into its arsenal, a technologically advanced weapon that draws from the Transfer of Technology for the Bofors howitzers.

The Dhanush Made in India Howitzer is an impressive piece of equipment, featuring a 155 mm x 45 calibre. This modern marvel, crafted by the skilled artisans at the gun carriage factory in Jabalpur as part of the Make in India initiative, has been stationed in the region for over a year. With a remarkable range that reaches above 4000 meters above sea level, it exhibits exceptional accuracy in hitting targets up to 48 kilometers away. Offering a diverse array of six ammunition types and an impressive rate of fire, it is a true testament to India's ingenuity and technological prowess.

Captain V Mishra, representing the Regiment of Artillery, proudly stated, "This remarkable piece of machinery is the result of India's efforts to acquire the transfer of technology from Bofors. However, through the Make in India scheme, we have achieved the remarkable feat of manufacturing it entirely on our own soil." These words epitomize the nation's commitment to self-reliance and advancements in defense capabilities.

With the military standoff between India and China stretching into its fourth year, the Indian Army remains steadfast in its pursuit of bolstering its capabilities in the Eastern Ladakh sector. Continuously equipping itself with cutting-edge weaponry and state-of-the-art systems, the Indian Army is prepared to handle any emergency situation and carry out conventional operations with utmost efficiency.

In addition to the Dhanush howitzer, the Eastern Ladakh sector welcomed the induction of 114 guns, developed and produced by the esteemed Ordnance Factory Board, further enhancing the Indian Army's combat power.

By constantly upgrading its arsenal and integrating advanced weapons systems, the Indian Army sends a resolute message, emphasizing its unwavering dedication to safeguarding the nation's interests and maintaining peace and stability in the region.
