Nana Patekar's NGO claims defamation suit against Tanushree Dutta

Renowned actor of Hindi cinema Nana Patekar's NGO 'Naam Foundation' has filed a claim of defamation of Rs 25 crore on Tanushree Dutta. It is being told that she has already made serious allegations against the NGO including corruption. She remained absent in the court after which Justice AK Menon granted relief to the NGO. The NGO started in the year 2015 by Nana Patekar and Makarand Anasapure in the petition filed in the High Court has stated that it is continuously working towards the betterment of farmers in the drought-hit areas. Tanushree's allegations and investigations at a January 2020 press conference are damaging her foundation's reputation. She provided information to the media in a press conference that she has filed a petition against the closure of her sexual harassment case by the police.

Tanushree has said, "She was in the process of filing an answer and that she can demand a CBI inquiry against the Foundation. When I tried to stop, I responded with a police complaint. While there, I used to be a young and talented actress, but after constant harassment by these people, my career stopped in a way. These challenges made me an activist and I have decided to never back down. History will remember me for my fight."

It is being told that about two years ago, Tanushree Dutta first accused Nana Patekar of sexually harassing the film 'Horn Ok Please' in 2008 under the MeToo campaign in the Indian cinema world. She accused director Rakesh Sarang, choreographer Ganesh Acharya and producer Sami Siddiqui for remaining silent. In June last year, the police had closed the case against all the accused. The police termed this complaint as false. Currently, Tanushree's petition against the closure of the case is currently pending before the same court.
