At the same time, the Finance Ministry on Tuesday announced relief to those applying for low tax or zero tax deduction in view of the difficulties related to COVID-19. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), through an order, has given a major relief to taxpayers, whose application for reduced or zero TDS / TCS deduction is pending for disposal.

Regarding this decision, the department has said that the people who were issued certificates for the financial year 2019-20 and if their application is pending, then the validity of that certificate is now being extended till June 30, 2020. At the same time, the taxpayers who were issued a certificate of reduced or zero deduction in 2019-20 and who have not been able to apply for this certificate in the financial year 2020-21, also extended the period of validity of the certificate to June 30, 2020.

For your information, let us tell you that many such people have applied for a low or zero tax deduction, who did not get the certificate for the financial year 2019-20. The CBDT has amended the process of application for this and the procedure for settlement of such a case. At the same, CBDT has said that with the outbreak of COVID-19 infection, the functioning of almost all sectors has been severely disrupted. He has said that the income tax department has also been affected due to this disease.
