New Delhi: During the Question Hour in the ongoing budget session of Parliament on Friday, the Agriculture Ministry gave important inputs on the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said in Parliament that PM Modi has announced to form a committee to make MSP transparent. Tomar also said that if the farmer produces any crop, then its due price should be given to the farmer. The government is committed to it. There is also a purchase arrangement.
The Agriculture Minister said wheat and paddy are being procured in more quantity than before, pulses and oilseeds are also being procured. At the same time, if a state wants to distribute coarse grains to its consumers by including them in the PDS and it requests the central government, the central government allows it. On MSP, the Agriculture Minister said that the decision to declare MSP by adding 50 per cent profit on the overall cost was taken by the government, which is benefiting farmers across the country.
He said that getting a price on MSP is one side, it is the government's effort to provide all-around assistance to the farmers, so provisions like PM Kisan Yojana, infrastructure fund of Rs 1 lakh crore have been made. This has been done so that the infrastructure that the farmer needs will take it in the village so that he does not suffer.
