United States: The NASA Perseverance rover has lived on Mars for one Martian year, or about 687 days on Earth. The car-sized robot will go ahead with its extended mission to Mars on January 6 after completing its primary mission. Mars.

The Perseverance rover, also known as Percy, is building a sample depot on Mars. This type of storage is being built for the first time on any other planet.

NASA is planning to return samples from the Red Planet to Earth through the Mars Sample Return Program, and Meenakshi Wadhwa, an Indian scientist, is in charge of this important initiative.

PERSEI was developed to collect samples of Martian rock and regolith, investigate the possibility of ancient life, and advance our understanding of the Red Planet's geology.

The main objective has been accomplished. The rover utilizes many of the instruments it carried during the mission, including state-of-the-art cameras, sensors, spectrometers and a ground-penetrating radar.

The rover is taking duplicate samples from its target Martian rocks. One set of samples is hidden in the rover's belly and will be given to a future lander that will return samples from Mars to Earth. A sample depot is being made from the second set, which also acts as a backup.

The rover has already sealed 18 of the 38 titanium sample tubes and three of the five "witness" tubes in the sample depot. If any earth contaminants were present while the samples were being collected, they would appear in the witness tubes. This will help scientists identify materials that may have come from Earth and are present in the Martian samples.

So far, four of the ten sample tubes dropped by the rover in the Three Forks area of Jezero Crater have been successful.

After setting up a sample depot to search for boulders and other materials, the rover will move to the top of the Jezero River delta, the ancient river that once flowed through Jezero's crater.
