Today, the Election Commission will declare the date of elections that are scheduled to held in five states i.e Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Manipur, Goa and Uttarakhand. 

In the afternoon press conference the Election Commissioner Chief Nasim Zaidi will announce the dates as well as reveal the last date of filing nominations, phases and also the day on which votes will be counted.

Yesterday, the EC had meeting with chief electoral officers of the five states. On 18 march, the term of Legislative assembly of Goa, Manipur and Punjab ended while Uttarakhand ended on March 26. Uttar Pradesh term of legislative  will end on May 27.
