Melbourne: Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon has created history. In fact, Lyon has become a Test bowler with 400 Test wickets. However, Lyon has had to wait almost a year to take just 1 wicket after 399. Mentions that Lyon took his 399th wicket on January 19, 2021. He then took the wicket of Washington Sundar in the Test against the Indian team. Almost a year later, he got his 400th wicket.
 
It took the Australian bowler nearly 2 years to take the next 10 wickets after 390. He made his 390th victim on January 6, 2020. Lyon had hunted down BJ Watling in the Sydney Test of the series against New Zealand. Thus it took him nearly 2 years to take his 400th wicket. Lyon achieved this feat in the first Test of the Ashes series. Lyon set the record as soon as he took his first wicket in the second innings of the ongoing Test against England in the Gaba. He has made his 400th victim David Malan. Lyon has taken a total of 4 wickets in the second innings.

Lyon has become australia's first and fourth off-spinner in the world to achieve this feat. Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has taken the highest number of 800 Test wickets in the world. Muralitharan was also an off-spinner. Apart from him, India's Ravichandran Ashwin has taken 427 wickets and Harbhajan Singh has taken 417 wickets.
