On Saturday, Ramdas Athawale, a minister in the NDA government and president of the Republican Party of India (RPI), said that the BJP should seriously consider the Shiv Sena demand. In order to form the government, it should give the post of Deputy Chief Minister to the Shiv Sena for at least five years.

In his statement, the Union Minister said that the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in Maharashtra has got the mandate to form the government. Even though the Shiv Sena has got fewer seats than the BJP, a government cannot be formed without it. Therefore, the BJP should consider Shiv Sena's proposal to run the government for two-and-a-half years. Athawale said that if the BJP does not approve this proposal of Shiv Sena, then it should give more ministerial posts at the Center as well as in the state. With this, Shiv Sena can agree.
