The National Day of Prayer is observed annually on the first Thursday in May. This day of observance, designated by the United States Congress, asks people “to turn to God in prayer and meditation.”

Amid pandemic,   this year,  May 7, the first Friday of this month, is declared as a day of prayer and fasting by the President of Bishops Conference of India, Oswald Cardinal Gracias.

Madhya Pradesh, Indore Bishop Dr. Chacko Thottumarikal appeals to the people to join this prayer campaign and plead before God for an end to the pandemic and healing of those are affected.

For many, prayer is an integral part of daily life. Prayer offers a rich connection to our spiritual lives, nurturing our relationships and faith. It also provides comfort in times of crisis or need. 

The Holy Scripture reads: "If my people who bear my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my presence and turn from their wicked ways, then I will listen from heaven and forgive their sins and restore their country."

Trusting in this promise, let us bend our knees before the Lord. I invite you to join me to fast and pray, Bishop Dr. Chacko Thottumarikal said.
