Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) instructed all its affiliated schools on Tuesday, to conduct online events to celebrate 'National Education Day' on Wednesday, i.e. November 11. "Central Government vide its Resolution dated 11th September 2008 has declared 11th November, the Birth Anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, great freedom fighter, eminent educationist and the first Union Minister of Education as the National Education Day," Joseph Emmanuel, CBSE Director (Academics), wrote. He added that to commemorate National Education Day, schools can organize online seminars; symposia; essay writing, slogan writing, elocution and poster making competitions on the importance of education and the Nation's commitment to all aspects of education on November 11, 2020.

"Schools are requested to make necessary arrangements for the celebration of the National Education Day on 11th November 2020 through Virtual Mode, strictly adhering to the guidelines issued by the Government of India for prevention of the spread of COVID-19," Emmanuel said. Further, he added that the celebrations should also be put up on social media with hashtag #cbsened.

Schools in Indore have been organizing events and competitions citing festival season especially Diwali. From conducting Rangoli making competitions to discussing the importance of festivals, various online events are being organized this week. In order to commemorate Education Day, schools are planning to merge the festive theme with education. "Festivals can teach us very important lessons, and that's one of our themes for celebrating the day," shared CBSE helpline counsellor Jaydeb Kar.
