NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), who has summoned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in connection with the National Herald case, has requested the ED to give him some more time to join the investigation.

Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have been called by the Enforcement Directorate to participate in the investigation.
On June 8, Sonia Gandhi was summoned, while Rahul Gandhi was summoned on Thursday (June 2). Rahul Gandhi wrote to the probe agency shortly after getting the summons, stating that he would be unable to participate in the probe tomorrow (Thursday).  Sonia Gandhi, on the other hand, has made no such request and is anticipated to join the investigation on the scheduled date.

The Enforcement Directorate wants both of them to testify in front of the investigation agency. Both have been summoned to the ED's Delhi headquarters, according to sources.

Several Congress officials, including the Gandhis, have been charged with misappropriating funds from the National Herald. The case was initially filed with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the ED's investigation is based on the CBI's findings.
