The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has written a letter to the Ministry of Personnel. Under this, it is proposed to give age relaxation in the government jobs to the economically backward sections of the general class like the SC-ST and OBC sections. Although how much it will be, the decision has been left to the Ministry of Personnel. It is believed that a decision can be taken soon.

According to the Ministry on this matter, at present, those who have age relaxation on the basis of reservation in government jobs, SC-ST have 5 years and OBC have 3 years. Under this, the maximum age limit for general category candidates in government jobs is 32 years, while for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 35 years is fixed and 37 years for Scheduled Castes and Tribes. According to the officials associated with the ministry, work is going fast on this, because by next month, a large number of vacancies are coming from different recruitment boards including the Union Public Service Commission. In February last year, the government had decided to give a 10% reservation to economically backward people of the general class through a constitutional amendment.
