Two-time medalist boxer Manoj Kumar has written a letter to Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju on Wednesday. In which he has asked him to consider the name of his brother and personal coach Rajesh Kumar Rajaund for the Dronacharya Award whose claim was ignored by the selection committee. This time the committee of 12 members has announced 13 names for the Dronacharya titles which will be announced on August 29 on the occasion of National Sports Day along with other champions.
The former national coach Gurbaksh Singh Sandhu also supported the nomination of Rajaund. Manoj has written, 'I am hoping for a positive answer. I request you to consider the names announced for the Dronacharya Awards for this year. I request you to consider the successes of my coach Rajesh Kumar and help in recognizing his successes, because in this case you are the last hope for us.'
He further said, "If again the hard work of a coach and his disciples is ignored, and even after knowing the story of his hard work, he is not given the award. Then how will the new talent be encouraged to dedicate their life to India". At present, no response has been received from the Sports Minister yet.
