Nomination can be filed by three candidates of the ruling JD (U) -BJP alliance, including Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh in Bihar. The Rajya Sabha MPs whose term is coming to an end later this year include BJP leader RK Sinha, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh, JDU leader Kahakshan Parveen, Ramnath Thakur, BJP MP Prabhat Jha.
