Now you don't have to go to your assembly or Lok Sabha constituency and cast your vote. Your voter ID card is going to be digital and you will soon be able to cast your vote from anywhere in the country. The Election Commission of India is now engaged in preparations in this direction. On the eve of National Voters' Day, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora informed about the same.
The Chief Election Commissioner said that the Election Commission is working on several important projects in the future electoral process. He said that we are already working with IIT Madras and other institutions on remote voting projects. In which modern technology is being used and the progress report of this project is going to be very impressive. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad is to launch an electronic version of the voter ID card on Monday, which can also be downloaded on a mobile phone or a personal computer.
These e-electors will be available in the photo identity card non-editable version i.e. it will not have any edit option. You can place it in places like digital lockers. You can also remove the PDF version if you want to keep the print from it, according to information received from the Election Commission. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad is going to launch the e-epic programme and distribute elector photo identity cards to five voters," the Election Commission said in a statement. Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, driving licences are already available in digital mode.
