An Intense thunderstorm hit an eastern Chinese city, leaving 11 people dead and 102 injured, with strong winds causing buildings and trees to collapse on Saturday.
As per sources who told a leading international daily Nantong city, located in the eastern province of Jiangsu, was among the hardest-hit when the extreme weather swept the Yangtze Delta. Gales and hail swept parts of Jiangsu on Friday night, including Nantong, Huai'an, Yancheng, Taizhou and Suqian.
The disaster has left 11 people dead, 66 injured and 3,050 evacuated, according to the Jiangsu Provincial Emergency Management Department.
A fishing boat capsized due to the storm, and 11 crew members fell into the water. Two have been rescued and the search for nine others is underway, as per Xinhua reports. Local authorities are organising the relief efforts.
