New Delhi: Former Punjab minister and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday alleged that by enacting new agricultural laws, the central government is weakening federalism and suppressing the voice of elected MLAs of Punjab. He said in a dharna organized by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Congress MLAs against the agricultural laws at Jantar Mantar in the national capital, "The people of the state will not tolerate war on their pride and turban ".
He further said, "Those who are talking about one country, one market, they want to suppress the voice of Punjab and its Chief Minister. We will not tolerate this. What is justice in this? You want to suppress the voice of the elected legislators." He also said, " Central Agricultural Laws are an attack on the federal structure and are against the Constitution of India."
He called the Central Law a black law and claimed that their goal is to help corporates, not farmers. He further said, "We will not allow Ambani Adani to set foot in Punjab and will not let anyone take away the rights of the farmers." Parliament has made 3 new laws for the farmers but the farmers are not ready to accept this law and they are protesting against the agricultural laws.
