Amritsar: Till now, it was almost certain that the Congress party would declare Charanjit Singh Channi, the sitting CM face in Punjab, and would enter the electoral fray along with his face. However, amidst these speculations, state Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu has openly revolted against the high command. Before former Congress president Rahul Gandhi announces the chief ministerial face, Navjot, who has reached among his supporters, has given a thumbs up to his own party.

Sidhu said that it is in the hands of the CM if a new Punjab is to be created. He said that this time the people have to elect their CM, but those sitting at the top want a weak chief minister to be made to sit in the state. He said the high command wants a chief minister to dance at their behest. He asked his supporters if they wanted such a CM. The supporters supported his point by shouting slogans. It is being told that Sidhu has given a kind of warning to his own party before the formal announcement. It is worth mentioning that Rahul Gandhi has already announced that his party will enter the elections in Punjab with a CM face. He will also announce it at the next rally.  

For this, it has also been said that Congress will conduct a survey like the AAP and take the advice of the workers. Former state president Sunil Jakhar has also said that Channi has got only four months time, in such a situation, he should be given more time. On the other hand, Sidhu has always considered himself as the CM candidate and now when he feels that his name is not going to come up, he has taken on a rebellious attitude. Let us know that recently Sidhu left the election campaign midway and left for Jammu to visit the Vaishno Devi temple. He has been given a ticket by the party from the Amritsar East assembly constituency. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has fielded Vikram Singh Majithia against him.

Earlier, Sidhu had described the party's top leadership as paramount and said that the CM face will be decided by him. Sidhu has now said that this honesty will go down on making an honest CM, but the people have seen how in the last 25-30 years, two chief ministers have made a big mess of Punjab.
