New Delhi: The layers of the Gorkha business of Navneet Kalra, who was honoured by CM Arvind Kejriwal as the 'creator of Delhi', are opening up every day. The black marketing of defective oxygen concentrators during the Corona period has come to light.
According to media reports, the quality of the oxygen concentrater being sold by Kalra was examined in a lab, which suggests that they would have received only 38 per cent of the oxygen. Police have registered a case against Kalra under another section of the IPC after seeing the lab report. It may be recalled that after the opening of Kalra's letter of exploits, many people complained that the concentraters purchased from Kalra were not working in the same manner. The police then questioned the accused in this regard. At the same time, the seized concentraters have been sent to the lab for quality check. The report revealed that these machines were not really working properly and were able to give only 38 per cent oxygen to the patient. Now, this report of the lab is with the Delhi Police.
The concentrators seized from Kalra's restaurants were imported from China. The concentrators were being sold at an exorbitant price of Rs 50,000-Rs 70,000 a piece as against a cost of Rs 16,000-Rs 22,000 per piece. The police have pressed charges under Section 420 (cheating), 188 (disobedience to order promulgated by public servant), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, Essential Commodities Act and Epidemic Diseases Act against Kalra and others.
