Mumbai: Amid the ongoing Hanuman Chalisa in Maharashtra and the BJP's campaign against Uddhav Thackeray amid the loudspeaker controversy, if there is one face at the forefront of the headlines today, it is independent MP Navneet Rana. Former South Indian film actress and MP Navneet Rana announced the recitation of Hanuman Chalisa at CM Uddhav Thackeray's house, shiv sainiks created a lot of ruckuses. Subsequently, the Maharashtra police registered several cases and arrested MP Navneet Rana and her husband MLA Ravi Rana and sent them to jail. Now Navneet Rana has written a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker accusing the Uddhav government and the Maharashtra Police of many allegations. At the same time, the Lok Sabha Secretariat has sought a report from the Maharashtra government within 24 hours.

Navneet Rana has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Navneet's pain is in it. Navneet Rana wrote in the letter that I was taken to the police station on the 23rd. On April 23, I had to spend the whole night in the police station. At night I asked for water to drink several times, but I was not given water all night. Navneet further made a big allegation that the police staff present on the occasion said that I belong to the Scheduled Caste, so they cannot give me water in the same glass in which they drink. That is, I was not even given water to drink because of my caste. I want to emphasise that because of my caste, I was deprived of basic human rights.

Elaborating further, Navneet said that I was supposed to go to the bathroom at night, but the police staff did not pay any heed to this demand of mine. Then I was abused. It was said that they (police staff) do not allow the low caste people to use their bathroom. In a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Navneet said that the Shiv Sena government led by Uddhav Thackeray has completely deviated from its Hindutva principles. These people are trying to break the trust of the people on the basis of which they came to power. Navneet said in the letter that I had tried to revive the flame of Hindutva in the Shiv Sena. That is why the recitation of Hanuman Chalisa was announced outside Matoshree, the residence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. It was not done to hurt anyone's religious sentiments or to provoke tension. I had invited Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to join the recitation of Hanuman Chalisa. My move was not against the chief minister. But I was accused that my move could threaten the law and order situation in Mumbai. After that, I also said that I will not go to the Chief Minister's house.
