Sindhudurg-Maharastra: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Rajkot Fort in Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district. Additionally, he participated in the Navy Day 2023 festivities in Sindhudurg, inspecting the Guard of Honour at Rajkot Fort.

Scheduled for December 4, the Indian Navy is set to exhibit its operational capabilities through an 'Operational Demonstration' at the renowned Sindhudurg Fort along India's western coast. This display will encompass various naval operations conducted by ships and aircraft, featuring 20 warships and 40 aircraft, including the MiG 29K, LCA Navy, and MARCOS, among other attractions.

Hosted by Admiral R. Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff, the event will be observed from Tarkarli beach by senior officials from the Central and State governments, military dignitaries, and local residents. The goal is to honor and highlight our nation's rich maritime history while shedding light on historical colonial practices.

Constructed in 1660 by Maratha Ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Sindhudurg Fort stands as a testament to India's maritime heritage and serves the Navy's operational needs for showcasing its frontline assets.

Navy Day, observed on December 4, commemorates the historic "Operation Trident," marking the Navy's daring attack on Karachi harbor during the 1971 War.
