Ranchi: The terror of Maoists at the site of road construction in Jharkhand has started growing even faster. The Maoists torched 2 tractors, a road roller, and a bike by attacking the road construction site in the Peshrar block of Lohardaga in Jharkhand. The Maoists have also kidnapped two persons including munshi. Munshi's phone switch is coming off. The incident is between 1 to 2 pm on 16th March.

As per information, the construction of a 6 km long road from Bondobar to Duggu is in progress. The cost of this road construction project is around Rs. 3 crores. The construction work of this road is increasing even faster. The tender for the construction of this road has been received by JS Constructions, the agency of Garhwa. Work is being done on behalf of JS constructions.

On Tuesday, work was going on near Balamba in Madanpur that about 15 armed Maoists arrived and set ablaze tractors and bikes. Maoists have also burnt the road roller near Lehban village. The incident has been confirmed by rishi Kant Sharma, police station in Incharge of Peshawar. However, being a Naxal-affected area, police are taking precautions. The police has not reached the spot till the news was written.

It is said that the Department of Rural Affairs had got an extension for completion of the project for the year 2017 at the beginning of this year but despite the expiry of the deadline, the work has been only halved. Now, after the latest incident, this important project has been questioned. It may be recalled that since October-November 2020, the Maoists in the district have been continuously carrying out some incidents, which has led to the slow pace of work on many development schemes.
