Lucknow: Students had recently staged violent protests against the Indian Railways in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. It was on Republic Day (January 26, 2022) that the protesters had come on the streets and set fire to trains. Protesters also clashed with the police. Some leaders and coaching teachers were accused of inciting students. The protests took place over a glitch in the appointment process of the RRB (Railway Recruitment Board). At the same time, in the meantime, a section of the media also gathered and spread false news.

The students said that in the notification of the exam, it was not mentioned that after taking the CBT-I exam for 'Group D,' they will have to take another exam. The results of this exam came on January 14. The notification for this was issued in 2019 itself. Police had lathi-charged the students after the violence in Prayagraj. The action was also taken against those policemen. However, a section of the media started spreading false news about it and started taking a dig at the government as well as the Hindu religion. The 'Navbharat Times (NBT)' journalist resorted to a photograph that had nothing to do with the so-called police brutality on the students.

The big thing is that the fact-check of the same picture was also done by the West Bengal Police in March 2020. At that time, this picture was being spread by saying that the Bengal Police had done this to this young man. The West Bengal Police had then warned that strict action would be taken against those spreading fake news. 'Dainik Jagran' also presented this photo as Prayagraj. Anup Pandey deleted the tweet and did not even give any explanation and started sharing newspaper clippings.
