Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Bharat Bhalke from Pandharpur-Mangalvedha assembly constituency in Maharashtra died on Saturday at Ruby Hospital in Pune. He was admitted for treatment of post-corona virus problems. Bhalke tested Corona positive on 30 October. He was then admitted to Ruby Hospital. He returned to his constituency in four days recovering.

However, after that he suffered from kidney related problem. Because of this, his condition deteriorated and he was put on ventilator. After this, he died on Saturday night. NCP President Sharad Pawar visited the hospital on Friday and inquired about Bhalke's condition. 60-year-old Bhalke's death is a shock to the NCP.

He was elected MLA from Pandharpur-Mangalvedha assembly constituency for three consecutive times. He left the Congress in 2019 and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). But he did not get the ticket. He then contested and won on an NCP ticket. Bhalke's body will be cremated on Sunday at Sarkoli in Pandharpur.
