Neerja Bhanot... It is a name that symbolizes courage and strength. Born on September 7, 1963, Neerja bid farewell to the world on September 5, 1986. But she proved that life should be big and not long. 5 September 1986. The attendant of the Pan am flight was Neerja Bhanot. All the tickets for the plan were booked and people were going from Mumbai to the US. In Pakistan, the plane was hijacked by terrorists in Karachi.

The same terror was intended to target Americans. At that time, there were 380 passengers and 13 crew members in the aircraft. The terrorists wanted to take the plane to Israel and their intention was to crash the plane from a building. Neerja immediately informed the cockpit crew of the aircraft through the hijack code on the intercom as soon as she came to know about the hijack. After which the cockpit crew immediately left the emergency gate.

Thereafter, Neerja Bhanot and the rest of the crew tried their best to save the people for 17 hours. The hijackers asked Neerja to submit passports of all people so that they could identify Americans. But Neerja deliberately hid all the passports. Neerja struggled with panic for a long time and finally, on getting the opportunity, she started evacuating passengers from the emergency gate of the plane. But before she got down from the flight herself, the panic-hit saw her and opened fire on Neerja after which Neerja breathed her last. Neerja was only 22 years old at the time.
