New Delhi: Good news comes across for the medical aspirants who wish to pursue MBBS abroad. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Scores will be now valid for 3 years for taking admission in Foreign Medical Institutions outside India. As per the MCI Gazette, the validity for NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test score has been increased from one to three years.
This clause has been further added to the Screening Test Regulations 2002. The clause of extended validity would come into effect w.e.f the date of publication, which is March 14, 2019.

This change has been made to the existing clause “Eligibility Requirement for Taking Admission in an Undergraduate Medical Course in a Foreign Medical Institution Regulation, 2002” which is now “Eligibility Requirement for Taking Admission in an Undergraduate Medical Course in a Foreign Medical Institution (Amendment) Regulation, 2019.”
The new amendment via the Gazette reads, “The result of NEET shall be valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of declaration of result, entitling a candidate to pursue MBBS or equivalent medical course including pre-medical/language course, if any, followed by MBBS or equivalent medical course.”
This validity of NEET score is only in relation to the Screening Test Regulations for candidates planning to study medicine or a related course abroad. The validity of NEET score, in regards the admission to medical and dental colleges in India, however, remain unchanged.
Earlier candidates planning to pursue medicine abroad were required to get a certificate of eligibility from the Ministry of Health. This, however, was amended last year when MCI made NEET qualifier to be a mandate for obtaining certificate of eligibility. As per the notification released on March 1, 2018, candidates were required to qualify NEET examination to be eligible to pursue MBBS or related medical courses abroad.
