Kathmandu: Nepal's archaeology department has now started searching for Lord Sri Rama. The department has announced excavation at the place where PM KP Sharma Oli claimed it is the real birthplace of Lord Ram. The Archaeological Department has planned to start excavation and study in Thori, which is in the southern part of the country.

According to experts, this step has been taken by PM Oli to gather evidence for the claim. On the other hand, in the talks between Oli and Nepali Communist Party (NCP) working president Pushp Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' for a new agreement on power-sharing in Nepal, no results have come out. Oli's claim related to Lord Ram has been described by many big leaders of Nepal as 'baseless and irrelevant', and has also strongly criticized the Prime Minister.

PM Oli had said that Shri Ram was born in Thori near Birganj and the actual Ayodhya is in Nepal. According to the 'My Republica' newspaper, the Department of Archeology (DOA) has started discussions with different ministries for possible archaeological studies in the area following Oli's remarks. DOA spokesman Ram Bahadur Kunwar was quoted as saying that "the department is brainstorming with several ministries about the possibility of starting archaeological studies at Thori in Birganj".
