Monday; July 11, 2016:Kathmandu, yesterday the Nepal government decided to donate two pairs of one-horned rhinos to China.

The meeting held at the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s official residence, where the decision was taken to give to China.

China had requested Nepal to gift two pairs of rhinos amid forest minister Agni Sapkota’s visit to the northern neighbor in January.

The demand was restated through Oli’s China trip in March. All through Sapkota’s trip, Beijing had agreed to give financial and technical help to set up a forensic sciences laboratory near Kathmandu and also develop green economic corridors at two border points.

Nepal has 645 one-horned rhinos and the pairs to be gifted to China will be chosen from among the 605 in Chitwan National Park, which has the uppermost concentration of the species.
