Kathmandu: Nepal will use the vaccine given by China against the coronavirus. The second phase of the corona vaccination campaign will begin in Nepal from April 7. The first phase of the vaccination campaign started in January with 10 million doses. For that, according to the 'Neighbor First' policy, India provided the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine to Nepal under grant-in-aid. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Jogeshwar Gautam told that the second phase of vaccination will start on Wednesday.
Volunteers of Vero Cell will participate in the priority group of 8 lakh doses of China-made Corona vaccine. Along with that, personnel-related to business activities across the Himalayas in the mountainous region will be vaccinated. He said that under the scholarship schemes, Nepalese students studying in China and students preparing to go to China for further studies will also be given a dose of Chinese vaccine.
He has reported that "Out of the total of 9 lakh people targeted for vaccination, nearly 5 lakh people have already been vaccinated with Corona. These 8 lakh doses donated by China are the remaining 4 lakh people of the targeted group". Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yankee handed over the corona vaccine to Health and Population Minister Hridayesh Tripathi during a special event held in Kathmandu on 29 March.
