A group of scientists worked on the software application that can help amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) disease people to speak through their eyes.

ALS is a disease that damages the nerve cells in the brain as well as the spinal cord. Both the tissues are responsible for transmitting a message to the brain, but due to damage, the process gets halted, which in turn stops the muscles' nourishment.

The new application developed by scientists is named as Eye-Gaze, this can speed up the message transmission and responds through the eyes' gestures. These gestures are different for different activities.

Researchers said, "Our evaluations demonstrate that GazeSpeak is robust, has good user satisfaction and provides a speed improvement with respect to an e-tran board; we also identify avenues for further improvement to low-cost, low-effort gaze-based communication technologies.”
