In the next months, Piaggio is expected to release an upgraded version of the classic Aprilia SR 160 scooter in India. The 2022 SR 160 has been observed being tested on Pune's roads ahead of its release. Aprilia's SXR series looks to have inspired the redesigned meter console. The two scooters (SR and SXR) use the same platform, but have distinct body designs.

The future model might be sold as a replacement for the present scooter or as a separate model. The consumer would be able to enjoy a completely digital screen on the two-wheeler in any case. Not to forget, this will also most likely be accompanied by a higher price tag. 

The new screen will be capable of displaying a great amount of data (as seen on the SXR), including a digital speedometer and tachometer, trip statistics, real-time fuel usage statistics, and even a history of the highest speed achieved. In addition to the new screen, the scooter may benefit from the addition of Bluetooth connectivity, which might unlock several Bluetooth connectivity capabilities that are already widespread in India.

Expect the same motor, suspension, brakes, and other mechanical components in the new scooter. When it is released, the new model will be somewhat more expensive than the present model, which costs 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated scooter is likely to cost ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 over the current vehicle.
