Kolleru, Uppalapadu and Kondakarla are the homes of birds and migratory birds in our state. Bird lovers visit these areas mostly in our state. Otherwise, they go to areas where there are more swamps like Rajasthan and Gujarat. Now new birds are visible in the wetlands around Vijayawada. There are seven new bird species that have not been recorded in the Krishna district. 25 foreign bird species migrating from far off places appeared. A total of 156 species of birds are wandering in this area. These were found in the first phase of the bird count in the ponds and fields in the city's surroundings under the vijayawada nature club.

15 fresh water tanks, including Velagaluru, Kondapavuluru, Unna, Kavalur, Pidurpadu, Edupugallu, Mustafabad, and their surrounding areas and their surrounding fields have been counted so far. The birds were newly discovered by the birds of the gittangi (blitz pipit), big vibration (Eastern Orphan Warbeller), neck lingadu (Eurasian vrainek), cuckoo hawk (crested goshack), squirrel squirrels (polyd harrier), blue flycutter (verditor flycher), oil buddy (black red start). 25 types of migratory birds from far off areas such as water-ducks (migratory waterfowl), name duck (spotted Eurasian vizin), needle duck (Northern Pintail), Spoon-mouth duck (Northern Shower). Most of these birds migrate from Europe, Russia, Mongolia, Siberia and China. Some birds migrate from the Himalayas, Rajasthan and Gujarat. Of the 152 birds identified, 14 species are under schedule 1 of the 1972 Wildlife Protection Act. According to this law, they are punished for hunting. 30 species of birds are listed as declining birds.

Bird counts have not been done in any district in the area specified except for the forest department's survey for three to four years. The Vijayawada nature club named Bandi Rajasekhar, Dasi Rajesh Varma, Dr Kishore nath and other enthusiasts have taken this calculation for the first time in collaboration with IISER and Mathai Nature Conservation Trust. The forest department also participated. 28 volunteers participated in the census for 40 hours on weekends and holidays. The second phase of the countwill take place from today till the end of February.

Migratory birds are coming in large numbers in the Vijayawada vicinity. We all have a duty to protect the habitatof the migratory birds coming from a long distance. The first bird count was well received. We hope that more new birds will be seen in the second phase of the count.
