New Bus Service to Connect Navi Mumbai Residents via Atal Setu - Yes, very exciting news awaits Navi Mumbai residents as the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) gears up to introduce bus services on the renowned Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), also known as Atal Setu. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing public transport accessibility in the region.

The upcoming bus route, designated as number 115, is slated to embark on its inaugural journey from Nerul to Mantralaya. This air-conditioned bus will traverse through Ulwe and the Kharkopar belt, catering to the commuting needs of residents along the route.

In terms of fare, the civic body intends to maintain the current pricing structure, with the fare set at Rs. 90 for the 52-kilometer journey from Nerul to Mantralaya. An official from NMMT affirmed, "Bus number 115 is an air-conditioned service previously operating from Kharkopar to Mantralaya. However, in response to residents' demands, the service will now commence from Nerul and pass through MTHL."

While these developments unfold, it remains uncertain whether public transport users will receive concessions or exemptions from the substantial toll fees imposed on private buses. Earlier this month, reports surfaced regarding the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) finalizing a bus route, S-145, in collaboration with the Chalo app, to facilitate public transport services on the Atal Setu, as reported by Mid-day.com.

Meanwhile, Atal Setu, officially named Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, stands as a remarkable engineering feat—a 6-lane trans-harbour sea link connecting Mumbai with its satellite city, Navi Mumbai. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 12, the 21.8 km long bridge, with 16.5 km over the sea, has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 17,840 crore, promising to drastically reduce travel time between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai to a mere 15-20 minutes.
