Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Tuesday that the country's new National Education Policy 2020 was introduced in 2020 to realise the country's aim of a "Self-reliant India."

Yogi stated while speaking at IIT Kanpur's 54th convocation in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, "In order to achieve its goal of becoming self-sufficient, India launched a new National Education Policy in 2020. It is a stroke of luck that we have famous universities like IIT Kanpur, IIT BHU, and IIM Lucknow that provide direction and vision to the state's youth."

"Many examples of reciprocal cooperation with the state government have been set by IIT Kanpur. It doesn't matter if you're a technical partner in the Defence Manufacturing Corridore or not " he said.  Yogi added that the Indian Institute of Technology has been renamed the Institute of Indigenous Technology in order to reflect PM Modi's vision for the country in the twenty-first century.

"In Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for the twenty-first century, the Indian Institute of Technology has been renamed the Institute of Indigenous Technology," he said. The state administration has also approved the building of a new superspeciality hospital to combat the COVID pandemic, according to the Chief Minister.
