NEW DELHI: New Delhi: Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, announced the government's introduction of a new category termed 'Ex-Agniveer' in the recruitment process for constables in Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles (CAPFs and AR). This category comes with specific provisions and benefits, as stated by Rai during a session in the Lok Sabha.

Responding to queries raised by MP Sunil Kumar Singh from Chatra Parliamentary Constituency in Jharkhand regarding reservations for Ex-Agniveers in CAPFs, Rai confirmed the creation of this category and outlined the associated privileges. He mentioned that the government has earmarked 10% of the vacancies for Ex-Agniveers applying for the posts of Constable (General Duty)/Rifleman in CAPFs and AR, along with a relaxation of three years in the upper age limit.

Moreover, Rai highlighted additional benefits for the initial batch of Agniveer candidates, providing them with a five-year age relaxation beyond the prescribed upper age limit. Notably, Ex-Agniveers are exempted from the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) as well.

Rai emphasized, "The recruitment provisions for Ex-Agniveers to the posts of Constable (General Duty)/Rifleman now incorporate a reserved quota of 10% vacancies for them, along with a relaxation of three years in the upper age limit."

Furthermore, he stated, "Necessary amendments have been made to the Recruitment Rules for Constable (GD) in CAPFs & AR, incorporating these provisions for Ex-Agniveers."

Prior to this development, the Ministry of Home Affairs had previously decided to reserve 10% of general duty constable posts in the Central Reserve Police Force for Ex-Agniveers, out of the sanctioned 1,29,929 posts.

Rai referenced a notification outlining the changes made in the recruitment process, stating, "These changes supersede the previous rules and regulate the method of recruitment to the post of Constable (General Duty) in the Central Reserve Police Force."

The government's move to introduce a new category specifically catering to Ex-Agniveers aims to provide better opportunities and support in the recruitment process for these candidates within CAPFs and AR.
